Harrowing Deaths over Decades of History Part IX

Mystery fiction gives an umbrella term for a genre where someone or something goes wrong and the main character spends a novel trying to fix it.  This genre makes way so that a great many fit then fill out below mystery fiction which work as a type of mystery fiction.

Thriller novels put zing in mystery fiction (ie. clock stop pace, tell tale signs, false clues).  Historical novels use older means to prove vice (ie. marring scene, lifting odd marks, suspect rap sheet).  Caper novels turn mystery fiction on its head (ie. bad main character, more humor, suspect rap sheet).

Noir novels make mystery fiction even more dark (ie. evil PI, sense high doubt, sense of doom).

Detective novels by course focus more on a detective (ie. Auguste Dupin, Sam Spade, Philip Marlowe).  Police procedural novels trod the steps of a law squad (ie. perp chase scenes and 911 calls).

Supernatural novels mean some magic or some beings (ie. 7 dwarves, viral ill will, bad luck omen).  Suspense novels add a dash of fear (ie. blood and gore, dead end finds, boss thug note). Cozy novels can hold a bit in mystery to them (ie. lone rookies at a cabin).

Crime novels of course live about the crime life (ie. a mob ring, grand or petty theft).  Amateur sleuth/detective novels work much like sleuth/detective novels, but with an amateur sleuth/detectiveEspionage novels mean a spy on a global scale (ie. an awol CIA, FBI or Secret Service).

Courtroom drama novels play out until the guilty party grows clear (ie. To Kill a Mockingbird).

Hardboiled novels tell about a case with which the main character shares ties (ie. My Sister's Keeper).  Locked Room novels live up to their name and trap characters (ie. And Then There Were None).

Medical mystery novels can range between small or large scale (ie. an organ donor, a global virus).  Murder mystery novels tell one who takes some other one’s life (ie. The Da Vinci Code).

Romantic mystery novels add a dash of romance (ie. true love, gain and loss, new life loss).
